State and Federal E-Verify
The Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer & Citizen Protection Act (Act 2011-535), signed
by Governor Robert Bentley, requires that beginning April 1, 2012, all employers
within the State of Alabama verify the legal presence of their employees. Employers
may use the federal e-Verify website by clicking here.
Alabama businesses
with 25 or fewer employees may elect to use the Alabama E-Verify
Employer Agent Service. To enroll in the Alabama E-Verify Employer Agent
Service, please
click here to create an account.
After creating an account, businesses will receive an email containing a
E-Verify Memorandum of Understanding for Employers using a E-Verify
Agent. This form must be signed and returned to our office for further
processing. You will be notified by email once your account has been
approved. Please note that this process can take several weeks. If
your business elects to use Alabama’s E-Verify Employer Agent Service,
please contact our office with any questions.
Federal E-Verify can only assist those businesses that enroll
directly with
Federal E-Verify, not Alabama’s Employer Agent Service.
